Glynace's roots are in Louisiana, but she has Lived in Houston for more than half of her life.

She had an early introduction to music from her mother and from her guitar/harmonica/piano-playing paternal grandmother, Pearl Hatton Norton.  She picked up a guitar herself at age 12 and hasn’t stopped since!  Reared in a music-loving family, she recalls her dad singing Hank Williams love songs to her mother and waking up the kids each morning by singing "Lazybones" until every child was out of bed to make him stop!  Glynace was a vocalist in an award-winning, five-member folk group "The Sassafras Roots" while attending Baton Rouge High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Her many musical influences include Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, Mary Travers (Peter, Paul, and Mary), Gordon Lightfoot, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Judy Collins, The Kingston Trio, Dolly, John Denver, and Townes VanZandt.

After teaching many years in public and private-school, she made the decision to try her hand at writing folk songs for adults.  Glynace had spent years writing songs in the classroom with children; so she began writing her own "folk" material and playing open mic venues around Houston, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Hollywood, CA.

Known in children's venues as "GiGi," Glynace writes in a number of genres, but concentrates on folk and children's songs.  Her love of music is as contagious as her "homespun" tunes; and her original tunes like "Louisiana Rain" and "Mama Pearl" can leave you slapping your knee and singing the choruses long after she leaves the stage.  Her extensive repertoire includes originals, folk and popular music from the 60’s through the present, country tunes, light rock (classic and contemporary), Smoky Mountain gospel, American and foreign folk tunes, some old and new country R&B, a few classic French and Spanish numbers, and "just about every children’s and holiday song known to man!"

Glynace is available for clubs, private parties and school entertainment.  She can be heard three or four nights each week at open mics around Houston.  (Please click on "Calendar" for the latest information.)

In 2007 her CD "Sugarbaby" was submitted to the Texas Board of Governors of the Recording Academy for consideration for a 2007 GRAMMY nomination.  In July 2008, her "Sugarbaby" CD received the coveted "Seal of Excellence" from Creative Child Magazine, and will be featured in the Holiday Issue of Creative Child as well as on their website in early November 2008.

In August 2008 her delightful "Lousiana Rain" was selected from among 91 entries by HAAM (Houston Association of Acoustic Musicians) to be included on their 2008 compilation CD.
